If you grow them as houseplants, a windowsill would be ideal. However, if you are experiencing hot climates, I suggest you keep the plants under shade so that it will avoid any scorching in the plants.

Soil  requirement

Having excellent drainage in the soil mix is quite crucial when selecting the right soil mix for the Prickly Pear cactus. 

A sandy or a gravelly soil mix would be perfect for them. Having said that, they can also thrive well in other soil types as long as they are well draining. 

Water requirement

Prickly Pear cactus use to grow in hot and dry weather conditions. Hence moderate watering would work well with the plants. 

When you water, make sure that their soil is dry. You could  limit watering them once every two to three weeks.

Further when watering, you need to moisten the soil and not soak it with water. In case the plants are getting rainfall, you can let them survive with that.

Fertilizer requirement

Pot type
