If you think the plants are lacking enough sunlight, you could bring them out for a few hours and then bring them in. 

4-6 hours of full sunlight and partial shade for the rest of the day would be ideal conditions for their flowers to stay healthy. 

You could consider growing them near grow lights if you think they are lacking sunlight.

If you have grown them outdoors, ensure there they get a lot of sunlight. Literally full sunlight to partial shade would suit them the best. 

Avoid exposing them to full sunlight at once as it could make the plant traumatized. Instead, you should slowly expose them to full sunlight.

Temperature levels

These plants can thrive in minor weather conditions. Having said that, avoid exposing them to sudden drops in temperatures also.

If you wish to use a sandy soil mix, you could mix the coarse sand and the cactus mix at a ratio of 2:1.
